Saab Key Programming
Saab cars that were built prior to 1994 come with an immobilizer system that is based on codes for keys. A new transponder is required for inclusion of an additional key, as well as special programming. This is usually handled by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.
The issue is that it can be extremely expensive. It is recommended to always have a spare set of keys in your possession.
Transponder key

The transponder is a piece of key that has an electronic chip. This chip sends out a signal when the key is put in the ignition. The car will then check the signal to see whether it is the same as that of the key. If the signals are identical the car will then unlock itself and start. This is a great way to deter auto theft and keep your vehicle safe from thieves.
Transponder keys are a common feature in automobiles, however it is important to know that they're not as secure as traditional metal keys. The metal component of a traditional key can be easily cut and copied, whereas the transponder is protected by an electronic chip that safeguards it. This chip has an individual code that is programmed into the car's computer to identify it.
The car will recognize the Saab keyfob and allow it to be turned on. But, it's only able to do this if the fob is equipped with a chip that is not modified that has been programmed to match it. In the absence of that, the car will reject the key and won't start.
It is essential to ensure that you have a spare key for your Saab. This is especially important especially if you reside in a rural region where there are many car thieves. You can get a brand new key for your Saab by visiting the dealership without paying expensive prices. You can get a replacement key created on the spot at a fraction of what you would spend at an auto dealer.
Wired key
Saab cars usually come with two keys when they are new. If you have only one, it's a good idea to get an additional key fob as soon as is possible as if you lose it the car will require a new CIM unit and the locking cylinders will need to be replaced. This can be expensive, especially for used cars.
The next step is connecting the row and columns wires to your microcontroller. This is the most difficult part of the project and will require a large deal of soldering. There isn't a standard method to go about it, but you need to consider how you will connect and solder each column and row. For this keyboard, there are 5 rows and 17 columns. This means there will be 22 microcontroller pins and wires to connect.
After the columns and rows are soldered, it's the time to connect them to the key switches. To do this, place a diode across each pin of the key switch and then solder it. This will protect the key switch pins from current and also prevent them from being shorted. A diode allows the flow of current to be in one direction, and it also has a a black band visual indicator that indicates the direction in which current will flow.
Sanabria says that some of the tools sold in auto parts stores, such as the Autel MaxiIM IM608PRO and the IM508 are able to assist customers shopping or DIY users to program replacement keys and restore data from the immobilizer. The tools connect to the OBD port and guide the user through the procedure, making it much easier than replacing the computer inside the vehicle.
Jump-starting the battery
Most people keep an item in their trunks to start a car in an emergency, but it might not be a good option for vehicles with newer technology. These vehicles are equipped with digital and computers that communicate with one another. A surge of voltage when the battery is connected to another battery could damage the components making your car unusable.
Start the working vehicle and allow it to run for approximately two minutes before connecting the cables to the disabled one. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the good battery (it will have "POS" or "+" on it). Attach the other end to a clean, unpainted metal surface beneath the hood of the damaged vehicle. The engine block is an excellent choice. Do not connect the black cable to the negative terminal of the dead battery as this could cause a spark that ignites the gasoline in the engine bay.
After the cables have been connected, you should start the car and allow it to run for around five minutes. Then, disconnect the cables in reverse. The battery in your Saab 9-3 will recharge while you drive. It may take a while it to drop back down. It is recommended to purchase a second key fob, as soon as you can. Replacing saab replacement key programming that works requires the installation and programming of a brand new computer chip.
Replacement Case
Saab owners usually only have one car key, and if it is lost, they'll be charged. It's costly to add keys and will require replacing the CIM or TWICE for older models. It is recommended to have a backup key in the event of theft or other disaster and the most effective way is to purchase an extra key as quickly as you can. Don't buy a secondhand key even it's "new." Keys that are claimed to be new purchased from third-party sellers won't be effective and are almost guaranteed to fail in the crucial moment.
Most locksmiths cannot help you with a single working key, and the dealer will charge top dollar to replace the computer in your car to make a new replacement. However, we can reset and re-program your computer's EEPROM in order to prepare it to accept the new key without having to replace the entire system. This could save you lots of money. It's less expensive rather than wait until you lose the only key.
